The Look

This is the soul of the late seventies Fiat lineup. It is not a dark burgundy or a flashy orange-tinted shade; it is the quintessential Italian racing red that looks just as fast on a 124 Spider as it does on an X1/9. Because your car has likely lived through several decades of sun and road grit, the original paint on your hood or fenders has probably shifted toward a lighter, chalkier tone. This red is bold and unapologetic, but it demands a clean surface because it shows every ripple and dent.

Technical Details

This is a solid finish. There is no metallic flake to hide imperfections or catch the light, so every movement of the tool needs to be steady. Before you spray or dab Fiat Rosso Fiat (check for code 152), you need to shake it for 60 seconds. Red pigments are heavy and sink to the bottom of the container. If you do not mix them thoroughly, the repair will lack the punch of the original factory color and may appear thin. Solid reds are also prone to fading, so the fresh paint might look deeper than your weathered panels until it is buffed.

Best Practices

You will usually find your paint code on a silver sticker or plate located on the underside of your trunk lid or under the hood near the firewall.
