Where to find Infiniti color code

How to Find Your Infiniti's Color Code

Infiniti paint color codes are always on the drivers door jamb; some require getting pretty low on the drivers door jamb to read, but the code is easy to read. Typical format: AX6. AX6 corresponds to Redline Clearcoat. Same Color Code, Different Name: Infiniti uses the exact same color across many models with different names, so the color code is important. For example, AX6 above we call Redline Clearcoat; it could also be called Red Clearcoat, High Performance Clearcoat, etc.

Your Paint Color Profile

Smoke Metallic

{"result": "### Infiniti Smoke Metallic (K11) Color Profile\n\n**1. Paint Finish:**\nInfiniti Smoke Metallic (code K11) is a **metallic** finish. It features a dark grey or charcoal base infused with fine metallic flakes that give it a shimmering, industrial look under direct sunlight. This color was shared across the Nissan/Infiniti lineup (often referred to as \"Smoke\" on Nissan trucks).\n\n**2. History:**\n* **Years Active:** Primarily 2004\u20132010.\n* **Commonality:** It was a staple color for Infiniti\u2019s larger vehicles, most notably the **QX56** and the **FX** series. It was a \"hero\" color for the rugged-yet-luxury SUV segment, chosen for its ability to look sophisticated while masking the dirt associated with large utility vehicles. It is considered a very common and popular color for that era.\n\n**3. Paint Code Location:**\nOn Infiniti vehicles, the paint code is typically located on the **VIN plate** or manufacturing sticker. This is most commonly found in the **driver\u2019s side door jamb**. It may also be located on the underside of the hood or near the radiator support in some older models, but the door jamb is the primary location for the K11 code."}

The Look

Infiniti used this shade to give their largest vehicles a sense of heavy, industrial weight. Since your QX56 has likely spent years hauling families or braving car washes, you will notice that this dark grey holds up better than most blacks or silvers. It is a utilitarian color that does not scream for attention, but it provides a sophisticated, granite-like presence when it is clean. Because your vehicle has been on the road for over a decade, the original finish might have shifted slightly compared to fresh paint, so focus on thin layers to help the new material disappear into the old.

Technical Details

This is a true metallic finish, which means the paint is packed with tiny flakes designed to catch the light. The primary risk with this finish is mottling. If you apply the paint too thick, those flakes will settle unevenly and create dark, cloudy patches that ruin the uniform look. You want the flakes to sit evenly across the surface rather than sinking into a heavy puddle. This color is excellent at hiding small scratches, but a poor repair will show up as a dull spot if the flake distribution is inconsistent.

Best Practices

Before you spray or dab Infiniti Smoke Metallic (check for code K11 on the manufacturing plate inside your driver's side door jamb), you need to shake the container for at least sixty seconds to wake up those heavy metallic particles. Test the color on the included card to ensure the shade matches your panels. When you start, keep the container moving to prevent the paint from pooling in one spot. Work in a garage or the shade to keep the metal surface cool, and give each thin layer enough drying time so the next one can bond without dragging the flakes around.

Will absolutely order from this company again.

After ordering touch-up paint from Lexus I was still waiting for it a month later. If they'd told me upfront it would take that long I wouldn't have ordered in the first place. Paint Scratch was recommended by a friend who restores cars. Easy ordering, fair price and fast shipping. The color match is great especially considering my car is a 2012. Will absolutely order from this company again. Reason I chose this business: Lexus collision repair and a local collision repair. Will use paint less dent removal and touch up chipped paint myself. Reason I chose this product: Spouse sideswiped passenger side of car while backing out of garage. Mostly plastic transfer from his wheel well trim but pressure creased and cracked the paint causing a bare strip 1/8 wide x 4” long below door handle. Scratches on door handle and a few small chips on both doors.

Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans

Used Paint Scratch metallic custom mixed spray cans paint on a hood panel with excellent coverage and texture over the surface. Metallic paint can be very unforgiving out of a spray can, sputtering pigmentation dots on the panel being sprayed and thus ruining the paint job. No such issues with Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint spray cans. Paint sprayed strong and evenly till the last drop of paint in the can. Shipping time was faster than expected. Reason I chose this business: Having tried other brands of custom mixed metallic paint with terrible results, sputtering pigmentation tint dots from the spray nozzle in spite of vigorously shaking of can prior to application and loss of propellant rendering the lower fifth of the can's paint useless, Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint sprays out beautifully and strong all the way to the last gram of paint in the can. Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans for automotive restoration. Thank you Paint Scratch.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I find my vehicle’s paint code?

Your paint code is usually found in the driver’s door jamb, trunk, or under the hood. See our Infiniti Paint Code Guide for detailed instructions.

Will this paint match my car?

Yes. If your Infiniti's color code is 'K11', your paint is custom-mixed to factory specs and backed by our Color Match Guarantee. If the paint does not match your Infiniti, we will send you a replacement or refund.

Do I need primer and clearcoat?

While primer is recommended on bare metal or plastic, clearcoat is essential: it protects the basecoat and restores factory gloss.

How long does shipping take?

Orders are mixed fresh and ship within 3–5 business days. Delivery takes 2–14 days depending on location.

Which touch up product should I choose?

It depends on the size of the damage:

  • Paint Pen (½ oz) – Best for very small chips and fine scratches.
  • Brush Bottle (2 oz) – Great for medium chips or scratches up to the size of a quarter.
  • Spray Can – Ideal for larger areas and panels.
  • Professional Sizes (Pint, Quart, Gallon) – Designed for full panel and vehicle resprays using spray equipment.

Not sure? If it’s just rock chips or small scratches, start with a Paint Pen.

Can I return my order?

Yes! If there’s a color match issue, we’ll replace the product or give you your money back. You also can return unopened, non-custom accessories for a full refund.

How long will the paint last in storage?

Paint pens and bottles last about a year if stored cool and dry. Spray cans can last several years if the nozzle is cleaned.
