The Look

This is the foundational shade of the Newmar fleet. You will see it serving as the main body color, or skin, on high-end coaches like the Dutch Star and Mountain Aire. It provides a clean, bright backdrop that allows those sweeping full-body graphics to pop. Because your motorhome lives its life out on the open road, this white has to work hard to stay sharp. It is excellent at hiding the fine road dust and light oxidation that plague darker rigs, but it will still show every bug splatter and tar drop after a long haul.

Technical Details

Despite what your eyes might tell you from a distance, this is a metallic finish. That means it contains tiny flakes designed to catch the sun and give the coach a premium depth. This presents a specific challenge for your repair. If the metallic flakes do not lay down flat, you will end up with mottling, which looks like dark stripes or cloudy patches in the finish. Because the silver particles in the paint are heavier than the white pigment, they tend to sink to the bottom of the container. If you do not mix it perfectly, the color will look too bright or too dull compared to the rest of your coach.

Best Practices

Before you spray or dab Newmar Biarritz White (check for code 60990), you need to shake it for 60 seconds. Newmar is famous for hiding the paint data, so if you are still looking for the code, check the inside of your kitchen cabinet doors or the spec sheet taped inside the bedroom wardrobe. Once you are ready, find a spot in your garage or a patch of shade to keep the fiberglass cool. Test the color on the included card to make sure the metallic flake density looks right. When applying the paint, keep the container moving to ensure the flakes distribute evenly. If you are using a pen or brush, use light strokes to avoid dragging the metallics into a clump. Give it plenty of drying time between layers to avoid building up a thick ridge that will be hard to level later.
