Once the sun's UV rays bake that top layer enough, it loses its grip on the color underneath. If you see milky edges around a rock chip, the clock is officially ticking.

Seal those chips immediately. On a 1995 AMG, a rock chip isn't just an eyesore-it's an entry point for disaster. When water and contaminants get under the edge of the clear coat at a chip site, they start "lifting" the clear from the base. It's like a loose thread on a sweater; once it starts pulling, the whole panel is at risk. Don't wait for a full restoration to address a tiny nick in your Whimbleton White or Tan. Clean the spot, dab it with touch-up paint to seal the perimeter of the clear coat, and you'll keep that factory finish anchored to the metal for a few more laps around the sun.
