How to Find Your Buick Enclave's Color Code

Buick used many different locations over the years, so the paint color plate can be hard to find. GM did not standardize the location. Commonly cited spots are the glove box or the spare tire well; otherwise it may be anywhere. The code format typically looks like 51/WA316N, usually preceded by BC/CC (BC/CC 51 or BC/CC 316N), and two-tone entries may show U or L (BC/CC U316N or BC/CC L316N).

The Color Breakdown

Buick has officially recorded 145 colors for the Enclave, and they certainly didn't hold back on the naming conventions. While you'll find plenty of sophisticated silvers and blacks, they also leaned into some personality with titles like Black Meet Kettle Pearl, Son Of A Gun Gray Metallic, and Edible Berries Metallic (which, for the record, we do not recommend tasting). Whether you're driving Old Blue Eyes Metallic or the explosive Cherry Bomb Tricoat, Buick's palette proves they wanted this SUV to be anything but invisible in the carpool lane.

What to Watch For

Before you start, you need to find your "Service Parts Identification" sticker to get the exact match. On most Enclaves, you'll find this white or silver label tucked inside the glove box. If it's not there, check the driver's side door jamb or underneath the spare tire cover in the trunk. You're looking for a code starting with "WA" or "U" (like WA-8554).

In terms of the paint itself, Enclave owners should keep a close eye on the front edge of the hood and the side mirrors. These areas are prone to small bubbles or "lifting" where the paint decides it wants to social distance from the primer. If you see a tiny bubble, don't pick at it! That's your signal to clean it and seal it with touch-up paint immediately to stop the spread.

Driveway Repair Tip

Many of these Buick shades, especially the pearls like White Diamond or Abalone White, are "Tricoats." These require patience. Because they have layers of sparkle suspended in the finish, you must shake your touch-up bottle for at least 60 seconds-and I mean really give it a workout. This wakes up the metallic flakes so they don't all sink to the bottom of your brush. When applying, think "thin and light." It is much better to apply three paper-thin coats than one big, thick blob that looks like a blueberry stuck to your door. Let each layer dry until it's no longer tacky before adding the next, and you'll have that Enclave looking sharp again.
