How to Find Your Cadillac SRX's Color Code

Cadillac used many locations for paint codes, making them hard to find, often impossible. GM (parent company of Cadillac) did not standardize the plate location. Usually the code is in the glove box or the spare tire well; otherwise it may be elsewhere. The typical format is 51/WA316N, usually preceded by BC/CC (e.g., BC/CC 51 or BC/CC 316N). There are two codes in one, and a U or L may precede for Upper or Lower. Two-tone examples: BC/CC U316N or BC/CC L316N.

The Color Breakdown

Cadillac didn't just pick a palette for the SRX; they curated an 110-color library that reads like a mood board for a very fancy, slightly chaotic wedding. We aren't just talking about "White" and "Black" here. They went all-in with names like Black Meet Kettle Pearl, Limited Addiction Pearl, and the legendary Mary Kay Pink Pearl Tricoat. Whether yours is the subtle White Diamond Tricoat or a deep Dark Ming Blue, Cadillac's design team clearly believed that "more is more."

What to Watch For

First, let's play "Find the Sticker." Cadillac likes to keep things interesting. To find your paint code, head to the back and lift the rear compartment lid. Look on the underside of the spare tire cover or check a small panel on the far right of that cargo well. You're looking for a silver or white "Service Parts" sticker with a code starting with "WA" or "U" (like U8554).

Once you've got your paint in hand, keep an eye on the roof and the tops of the door handles. The SRX is known for getting a bit of "sunburn" (clear coat peeling) in those high-exposure spots. If you see a small chip starting there, catch it early before it decides to invite its friends and start a larger peel.

Driveway Repair Tip

Since so many SRX colors are high-end pearls or tri-coats, they contain tiny flakes that like to settle at the bottom of the bottle like sand at the beach. Before you touch that chip, shake your touch-up bottle for a full 60 seconds-and I mean a real, vigorous workout shake. This wakes up those sparkles so they actually show up on your car instead of staying stuck in the tube.

When applying, think of yourself as a surgeon, not a house painter. Use the very tip of the brush to drop the paint into the chip rather than brushing over it. If the color looks a little different at first, don't panic; these complex metallics require some patience and a bit of "dry time" to truly find their rhythm and match the rest of the panel.
