How to Find Your 2007 Chevrolet's Color Code

Chevrolet did not make it easy to find the color code. Over the years they used many different locations and did not standardize the color plate, so it can be hard to locate. Usually it is in the glove box or the spare tire well; otherwise, the search may extend everywhere. The typical code is 51/WA316N, usually preceded by BC/CC. Two tone codes can appear as BC/CC U316N or BC/CC L316N (U for Upper, L for Lower).

2007 Chevrolet Background Info

The 2007 Chevrolet Vibe

Welcome to 2007, the year Chevrolet decided to throw a party and invited everyone from the retro-styled HHR and the compact Aveo to the heavy-hitting Silverado and the Corvette C6. This was a year of massive variety-we've got 161 colors in the vault for this year alone. Whether you're trying to match the high-octane Atomic Orange on a Vette, the deep Bermuda Blue Metallic on a Tahoe, or the fleet-standard Victory Red on a Colorado, 2007 was an era where Chevy wasn't afraid to lean into metallics and high-impact "effect" colors. It was a good year for the eyes, but a challenging one for the long-term health of the metal.

Paint Health Check

We are firmly in the "Thin Paint Era" here. By 2007, the factory robots had become a little too efficient for their own good. They were programmed to spray just enough paint to look flawless on the showroom floor, but not a micron more. If you're driving an Impala or a Trailblazer from this crop, you've likely noticed that a single pebble can leave a chip that looks like a crater. Worse yet, some of the white and black fleet colors from this era-looking at you, Express vans and Silverado work trucks-have a nasty habit of "delaminating," where the top layers start to flake off like a bad sunburn. It's not your fault; it's just the reality of the robot-sprayed, ultra-thin factory finish.

Restoration Tip

Because that factory coat is thinner than a politician's promise, the biggest mistake you can make is trying to fix a chip with one big, thick "blob" of paint. It'll sit higher than the surrounding surface and look like a pimple. Instead, treat it like the robots should have: build your layers slowly. Apply a thin coat, let it dry, and repeat until you've built the depth back up to match. Since these 2007 metallics have a lot of "flip" and shimmer, thin layers ensure the metallic flakes lay down correctly so your repair disappears into the Galaxy Silver or Sunburst Orange instead of standing out.
