Chevrolet definitely didn't play it safe with the Matiz. What to Watch For

Because the Matiz often lived its life as a city warrior, parked out in the elements, the paint has a few known quirks. The clear coat-the shiny protective top layer-tends to be on the thinner side, making it prone to "sunburn" (fading) on the roof and hood. You might also notice small chips on the nose that seem to pop up if you even look at a gravel road. To find your specific color match, look for a metal plate or sticker located in the engine bay (near the firewall), inside the glove box, or on the driver's side door jamb. It usually features a code like "WA8555" or "U505Q."

If you're working with one of the "Effect" or "Metallic" colors-like Ocean Blue Effect or Imperial Blue-patience is your best friend. These paints are packed with tiny metallic flakes that like to settle at the bottom of the bottle. Shake your touch-up pen or bottle for a full two minutes (set a timer!) to make sure those sparkles are evenly distributed. When applying, avoid the temptation to fill a chip with one big blob. Instead, dab on a tiny, thin layer, let it dry for 20 minutes, and repeat until it's level with the rest of the paint.
