How to Find Your Chevrolet Spark's Color Code

Chevrolet did not make it easy to find the color code. Over the years they used many different locations and did not standardize the color plate, so it can be hard to locate. Usually it is in the glove box or the spare tire well; otherwise, the search may extend everywhere. The typical code is 51/WA316N, usually preceded by BC/CC. Two tone codes can appear as BC/CC U316N or BC/CC L316N (U for Upper, L for Lower).

The Color Breakdown

Chevrolet definitely decided that "small car" didn't have to mean "boring colors." With a massive 113 recorded colors in the history of the Spark, they really went for it. Whether you are driving a Mint My Mind green, a Lucious Kiss Pink, or the enigmatically named Black Meet Kettle Pearl, your Spark was designed to stand out in a parking lot. They even threw in some truly unique finishes like Edible Berries Metallic and Limited Addiction Pearl. It is a vibrant list that proves Chevy's design team had a lot of fun at the paint mixer.

What to Watch For

Because the Spark is built as a lightweight, nimble city car, its factory paint tends to be on the thinner side. This makes the hood and front bumper a magnet for rock chips if you spend any time on the highway. You might also notice some premature "flaking" on the edges of the hood or near the door handles where the clear coat works the hardest.

To find your specific color code, you will need to go on a bit of a scavenger hunt for the Service Parts Identification sticker. On most Sparks, check the inside of the glove box first. If it isn't hiding there, look in the spare tire well under the trunk carpet. For 2018 and newer models, look for a QR code sticker on the driver's side door jamb or the center pillar (the B-pillar). You are looking for a code that usually starts with "WA" or "U," often located right next to the "BC/CC" text.

Driveway Repair Tip

Since so many Spark colors-like Abalone White Tricoat or Burning Hot Pearl-rely on heavy metallic or pearl flakes for their "pop," your secret weapon is the "Minute Shake." Before you touch the brush to the car, shake that bottle for a full 60 seconds to wake up the sparkles that have settled at the bottom.

When applying, remember: patience is your best friend. Instead of trying to fill a chip with one big, thick drop of paint (which usually ends up looking like a tiny mountain), apply two or three paper-thin layers. Let each layer dry for about 15 minutes. This builds the color up naturally and ensures the paint stays exactly where you put it without running.
