How to Find Your 1995 Chrysler's Color Code

Chrysler paint codes can be difficult to find. In the good old days, they were on top of the radiator support, often hidden under engine grease and oil. Later models put them on the drivers door jamb. Typical format: BS/GBS, but only BS is the color code; it can also appear as QBS, PBS, TBS, etc., with the first letter as a confusing "Year Code." BS corresponds to Deep Water Blue Pearl Clearcoat; the G in GBS is not part of the color code.

1995 Chrysler Background Info

The 1995 Chrysler Vibe

1995 was the peak of Chrysler's "Cab Forward" revolution-a time of rounded edges, massive windshields, and an era where the Laser was handing the torch to the sleeker Sebrings and Neons. It was a decade obsessed with aerodynamic "jellybean" styling. While the factory brochures of the mid-90s were filled with experimental teals and wild magentas, our database focuses on the two colors that actually survived the test of time: Black Crystal and Bright White. These were the workhorse shades that kept the 1995 lineup looking classier than the budget-bin plastics of the interior might suggest.

Paint Health Check

If you're still rocking original factory paint on a '95 Chrysler, you're likely living in The Peeling Era. This was the decade when the industry moved fully into basecoat/clearcoat systems, but the bond between them hadn't quite been perfected. Chrysler of this vintage is notorious for "The Great Shedding"-technically called delamination. The clear coat doesn't just get dull; it turns into a brittle, transparent skin that flakes off in sheets, especially on the hood, roof, and trunk. Once that top layer lets go, the Bright White or Black Crystal underneath is left defenseless against the sun, turning chalky and rough faster than you can say "Pentastar."

Restoration Tip

On a 1995 finish, rock chips aren't just an eyesore; they are the starting point for total clear coat failure. When a pebble hits your Black Crystal hood, it creates a "fret" or a tiny air pocket at the edge of the clear coat. To prevent the clear from lifting and peeling back like a sunburn, you need to seal those chips immediately. Use a fine-tipped brush to dab our color directly into the crater, making sure to slightly overlap the edge of the surrounding clear coat. This essentially "glues" the clear coat back down to the base, stopping the air from getting underneath and turning a small chip into a dinner-plate-sized peel.
