How to Find Your 2014 Chrysler's Color Code

Chrysler paint codes can be difficult to find. In the good old days, they were on top of the radiator support, often hidden under engine grease and oil. Later models put them on the drivers door jamb. Typical format: BS/GBS, but only BS is the color code; it can also appear as QBS, PBS, TBS, etc., with the first letter as a confusing "Year Code." BS corresponds to Deep Water Blue Pearl Clearcoat; the G in GBS is not part of the color code.

2014 Chrysler Background Info

The 2014 Chrysler Vibe

In 2014, Chrysler was leaning hard into that "Imported from Detroit" swagger. Whether it was the 300 Series trying to look like a budget Bentley, the 200 Series making a play for the suburban driveway, or the Town & Country hauling the travel soccer team, these cars had a presence. With 26 colors in our database, it's clear Chrysler wasn't afraid of a little variety. From the deep, moody Phantom Black Pearl Tricoat to the sun-soaked Deep Cherry and Jazz Blue Metallic, they were leaning heavily into pearlescent finishes to give these machines a premium, high-gloss depth that punched way above their price tag.

Paint Health Check

Welcome to the Thin Paint Era. By 2014, the factory robots had been calibrated for "maximum efficiency," which is just a fancy way of saying they got real stingy with the spray. While these cars looked like a million bucks on the showroom floor, the reality is that the clear coat is likely thinner than a diner napkin. If you've got a 300 with Brilliant Black Pearl or a Town & Country in Bright White, you're probably seeing "crow's feet" on the roof or tiny chips on the hood that look like they were made by a BB gun. This era's paint doesn't have the meat on its bones to handle heavy buffing, and once a chip starts, the thin clear coat loves to start lifting around the edges.

Restoration Tip

Because you're working with factory-thin layers, you have to be patient. When you're filling those rock chips in your Billet Metallic or Ivory Pearl, do not try to fix it with one heavy blob of paint. The surrounding factory clear is delicate; if you over-apply, you'll end up with a high spot that's a nightmare to level out without burning through the original finish. Instead, build your layers slowly-think thin, surgical strikes. Let each layer tack up properly before adding the next. You want to sneak up on the level of the original paint, not overtake it.
