How to Find Your 2015 Chrysler's Color Code

Chrysler paint codes can be difficult to find. In the good old days, they were on top of the radiator support, often hidden under engine grease and oil. Later models put them on the drivers door jamb. Typical format: BS/GBS, but only BS is the color code; it can also appear as QBS, PBS, TBS, etc., with the first letter as a confusing "Year Code." BS corresponds to Deep Water Blue Pearl Clearcoat; the G in GBS is not part of the color code.

2015 Chrysler Background Info

The 2015 Chrysler Vibe

By 2015, Chrysler was leaning hard into the "Imported from Detroit" persona. You saw the 300 Series looking like a budget Bentley and the Town & Country holding down the suburban fort with more metallic flake than a bass boat. With 29 colors in the lineup, they weren't exactly shy. While the rest of the world was drowning in boring rental-car silver, Chrysler was busy spraying deep, moody pigments like Jazz Blue Metallic, Velvet Red Pearl, and that "tough-as-nails" Granite Crystal Metallic. It was an era of high-gloss ambition, where even the wheels got fancy treatments like Satin Carbon and Hyper Black.

Paint Health Check

Welcome to the Thin Paint Era. By 2015, the robots at the factory had become a little too good at their jobs-specifically, the job of saving the company money by spraying the absolute bare minimum of clear coat. We call it "Robot Efficiency." While it looked like a million bucks on the showroom floor, this factory finish is notoriously brittle. If you own a 200 Series or a 300, you've probably noticed that a single pebble on the interstate can take out a chunk of Bright White or Brilliant Black like it was hit by a ball-peen hammer. Once those chips compromise the clear coat, the UV seal is broken, and you're on a fast track to delamination.

Restoration Tip

When you're touching up these modern finishes, you have to fight the urge to "glob and go." Because the factory layers are so thin, a big, heavy drop of touch-up paint will stick out like a sore thumb. The Fix: Build layers slowly. Use a fine-tipped applicator to place a tiny amount of color into the chip, let it dry, and repeat until it's level with the surrounding surface. Don't try to fill the crater in one shot; these high-solid pigments need room to breathe and settle. If you're working on those Tech Silver or Titanium wheels, keep your layers even thinner-metallic flakes like to "clump" if you apply the paint too thick, which ruins the factory shimmer.
