How to Find Your Chrysler All Models's Color Code

Chrysler paint codes can be difficult to find. In the good old days, they were on top of the radiator support, often hidden under engine grease and oil. Later models put them on the drivers door jamb. Typical format: BS/GBS, but only BS is the color code; it can also appear as QBS, PBS, TBS, etc., with the first letter as a confusing "Year Code." BS corresponds to Deep Water Blue Pearl Clearcoat; the G in GBS is not part of the color code.

The Color Breakdown

Chrysler has certainly kept things interesting over the years, recording a massive 519 colors across its lineup. They really went for it, offering a spectrum that ranges from the boardroom-ready Bright White and Black Crystal to the "notice-me" shades of the classic era like Sassy Grass Green and Deep Plum Poly. Whether you're driving a sophisticated 300 or a vintage Newport, you're dealing with a palette that covers everything from "50 Shades of Grey" to a full-blown technicolor dreamcoat.

What to Watch For

Before you pop that touch-up cap, you need to find your code. On most modern Chryslers, you'll find it on a sticker inside the driver's side door jamb. Look for the abbreviation "PNT:" followed by a three-digit code (it usually starts with a "P," like PX8 or PS2). If you're rocking a classic, check the metal "fender tag" under the hood on the driver's side inner fender or the radiator support.

Keep an eye on the edges of the hood and the roof. Some models (looking at you, Pacifica) are known for tiny bubbles forming along the aluminum hood seams. If you see your clear coat starting to look a bit flaky or "ashy" from the sun, don't panic-catching those spots early with a fresh layer of protection is exactly why you're here.

Driveway Repair Tip

Because Chrysler loves their "Poly" and "Pearl" finishes (which are just fancy names for those beautiful metallic sparkles), your secret weapon is the 60-second shake. Those tiny metallic flakes like to settle at the bottom of the bottle. Shake your paint for at least one full minute until you hear the mixing ball rattling freely; this ensures the "Silver Mist" actually looks like mist and not just grey smudge.

When applying, remember that patience is your friend. Instead of trying to fill a chip with one big glob, apply two or three very thin layers, letting them dry for about 20 minutes in between. It's like icing a cake-thin layers lead to a smooth finish that won't catch the light the wrong way when you're done.
