How to Find Your Chrysler Crossfire's Color Code

Chrysler paint codes can be difficult to find. In the good old days, they were on top of the radiator support, often hidden under engine grease and oil. Later models put them on the drivers door jamb. Typical format: BS/GBS, but only BS is the color code; it can also appear as QBS, PBS, TBS, etc., with the first letter as a confusing "Year Code." BS corresponds to Deep Water Blue Pearl Clearcoat; the G in GBS is not part of the color code.

The Color Breakdown

Chrysler didn't hold back when they launched the Crossfire, recording a total of 26 different colors for this German-American mashup. They really went for it with "extrovert" shades like Aero Blue Pearlcoat and Classic Yellow, but they also leaned heavily into the boardroom aesthetic. With names like Sapphire Silver Metallic, Bright Silver Metallic, and Graphite Grey, they basically gave us "50 shades of grey" before it was a thing. Whether yours is the deep Midnight Blue Pearl or the regal Alabaster, you're working with a palette that was designed to look expensive.

What to Watch For

Since the Crossfire was built by Karmann in Germany, the paint quality is generally higher than your average early-2000s sedan, but it does have its "personality" quirks. The most common headache isn't actually on the doors-it's the silver windshield trim and the side mirrors, which tend to see the clear coat flake away after too many years in the sun. You'll also want to check the lower door edges and the area around the door handles for small bubbles. To find your specific color code, pop the hood and look for a metal tag on the radiator support or check the sticker inside the driver's door jamb. It's usually a three-digit code (like PS3 or ARH) often preceded by "PNT."

Driveway Repair Tip

Because Chrysler used a lot of pearls and "Crystal Effects" (like in Blaze Red Crystal Pearl), those metallic flakes like to settle at the bottom of the bottle. Shake your touch-up pen or bottle for at least 60 seconds-until you hear that little mixing ball doing a happy dance-to ensure the sparkles are evenly distributed. When filling a chip, don't try to fill the whole hole in one go. If you drop a giant glob in there, it'll look like a mountain on a flat plain. Instead, use the tip of the brush to dab in a thin layer, let it dry for 20 minutes, and add another. Some of the more complex silver effects require patience to get the shimmer just right, but thin layers are your best friend for a flush finish.
