How to Find Your 1999 Daewoo's Color Code

Daewoo paint color code is obtained by contacting Daewoo, which can determine the color code. If a color code is unavailable, the alternate reference is the PPG or Dupont (Axalta) paint formula number, used in place of the code.

1999 Daewoo Background Info

The 1999 Daewoo Vibe

Welcome to 1999-the year we were all prepping for the Y2K bug and wondering if a South Korean car named the "Leganza" was the future. Whether you were rocking a Lanos hatchback, a Nubira, or the top-shelf Leganza, Daewoo hit the scene with a surprisingly deep palette. With 12 colors in our database, they weren't shy about variety. From the shimmering Spinel Red Pearl to the quintessentially late-90s Olive Silver Metallic and Khaki Beige Metallic, these cars were designed to look sharp in a showroom under the glow of a neon "Grand Opening" sign. It was an era of transition-moving away from the flat teals of the early 90s into the sophisticated Regatta Blue Pearls and Granada Black Pearls that defined the turn of the millennium.

Paint Health Check

If you're staring at a 1999 Daewoo today, you're likely staring at a "sunburn." This car falls square into The Peeling Era. By the late 90s, the industry had fully committed to the base coat/clear coat system, but the chemistry hadn't quite mastered the art of staying together forever. On these models, the clear coat is the weak link. It's prone to "delamination," where the protective top layer decides it's had enough of the sun and starts lifting off in flakes. If your Poly Silver Metallic roof looks like it's shedding skin, or your Deep Bluish Green Metallic hood is turning cloudy and white, you're witnessing the bond between the color and the clear failing. Once that clear coat is gone, the pigment underneath is defenseless.

Restoration Tip

The golden rule for 1999 paint: Seal every chip the moment you see it. In this era, a stone chip isn't just a cosmetic blemish; it's an entry point for moisture and air to get underneath the clear coat. Once that seal is broken, the clear will start to "lift" away from the base coat, and before you know it, a tiny speck has turned into a dinner-plate-sized patch of peeling paint. Use a high-quality solvent-based touch-up to fill the void and lock the edges of the clear coat down. If you catch it early and keep it sealed, you can stop the delamination in its tracks and keep that Azurite Blue Metallic looking like it actually survived the turn of the century.
