Fleet Federal-Express Paint Info
The Color Breakdown
FedEx certainly knows how to keep things streamlined. Our records show they've stuck to exactly one signature color: Purple. While most of the fleet is a crisp white, that specific purple is the heavy lifter that gives the brand its iconic "overnight" look. It's a catalyzed, industrial-strength pigment designed to handle more miles than most of us will drive in a lifetime.
What to Watch For
Because these trucks spend their entire lives under the sun, that purple has a tendency to "chalk" or fade into a lighter, hazier version of itself on the hood and the high roof edges. You might also notice the clear coat starting to flake away near the door handles or along the hood-this is just the result of thousands of deliveries and heavy UV exposure. To find your specific paint code, check the driver's door jamb or the passenger door frame. If you're driving a Sprinter-style van, take a peek at the driver's seat pedestal; there's often a data plate hiding right there.
Driveway Repair Tip
Since this purple is a high-pigment, catalyzed-style paint, it can be a bit thick right out of the bottle. Before you touch it to the truck, shake your touch-up pen or bottle for at least 60 full seconds-it requires patience to get those heavy pigments moving. When you're ready to apply, don't try to fill the chip in one go. Use the tip of your brush to dab a tiny amount into the center of the chip and let it spread itself out. If the chip is deep, wait 20 minutes and add a second thin layer. It's much easier to build up the color than it is to deal with a purple drip running down your door!
