How to Find Your 2010 Freightliner's Color Code

The Freightliner color code is obtained by contacting Freightliner to see if they can determine the color code. If there is no color code, the alternative is the PPG or Dupont (Axalta) paint formula number.

2010 Freightliner Background Info

The 2010 Freightliner Vibe

Welcome to 2010: the year the Cascadia truly conquered the interstate and "Hey, Soul Sister" was blasted on every sleeper cab radio from Jersey to Cali. While the rest of the world was obsessed with silver sedans, Freightliner was busy giving us 84 different ways to dress a workhorse. Our database shows a massive spread for this year-from the standard fleet "Ice White" and "School Bus Yellow" to the deep, moody tones favored by the owner-operators who actually liked their rigs. We're talking Blackberry, Black Cherry, and Black Sapphire-colors that looked like they belonged on a high-end luxury car but were instead hauling 40 tons of refrigerated poultry. It was an era of "Professional Grade" style, even if most of the road was a sea of white and beige.

Paint Health Check

By 2010, the "Robot Revolution" at the factory was in full swing. These trucks were painted with surgical precision by machines designed to use as little product as humanly possible while still hitting the spec. We call this the Thin Paint Era. The finish looks great when it rolls off the line, but it doesn't leave much "meat on the bone" for the years of road salt and gravel sandblasting that follow. If you're seeing chips on the hood of your M2 or Cascadia, it's usually because those robotic arms were a little too efficient with their spray patterns. Unlike the old days where the paint was thick enough to stop a bullet, this era is prone to "micro-chipping" that can quickly turn into a mapping project of the local rust belt if you don't seal it up.

Restoration Tip

Since 2010 paint is applied thin and lean, your repair strategy should be the opposite: Build layers, don't blob it. When using our catalyzed spray cans, resist the urge to fill a chip in one heavy pass. If you "blob" it, the solvent can get trapped, leaving you with a soft spot that'll peel in six months. Instead, mist on 2-3 light coats, letting each one "flash off" (dry to the touch) before adding the next. You're essentially acting like a smarter version of that factory robot-building a durable, layered finish that actually has the depth the factory was too cheap to give you.
