Because we're dealing with a clear coat system, a simple rock chip isn't just a cosmetic blemish-it's a gateway for moisture to start the delamination process. Seal your chips immediately. If you see a nick, don't wait for the weekend. Clean it, dabs some fresh paint in there, and seal it up before the clear coat decides to start lifting at the edges. Also, stop dry-wiping your tank with a crusty shop rag; this paint is softer than a poet's heart and will swirl if you even look at it sideways.
