The Color Breakdown

Infiniti kept the FX37 palette sophisticated but surprisingly tight, recording only 8 official colors. They gave us everything from the deep, "I'm definitely a secret agent" Black Obsidian to the adventurous Olive Green Metallic (they really went for it with that one). Whether you're rocking the Blue Pearl or the regal White Pearl Tricoat, these colors were designed to highlight the FX37's "bionic cheetah" curves-which is exactly why those little white rock chips stand out like a sore thumb.

What to Watch For

Infiniti is famous for many things, but "rock-hard paint" isn't one of them. The clear coat on these is famously soft, which means it's prone to "road rash" on that long, muscular hood and bubbling around the rear liftgate handle. You'll find your 3-digit paint code (look for a sequence like "KH3" or "QAA") on the driver-side door jamb sticker. If you see some slight fading on the roof or the tops of the door mirrors, don't panic; it's just the sun being a bully. You can handle this.

Driveway Repair Tip

Since most FX37 colors involve a lot of metallic or pearl-especially the White Pearl Tricoat-your mission is "The Great Shake." Shake your touch-up bottle or pen for a full 60 seconds (set a timer!) to wake up those tiny flakes of sparkle. When applying, think "less is more." Use the tip of the brush to dab a tiny drop into the center of the chip and let it flow to the edges. If the chip is deep, do two paper-thin layers rather than one big glob. Patience is your best friend here!
