How to Find Your Infiniti M37's Color Code

Infiniti paint color codes are always on the drivers door jamb; some require getting pretty low on the drivers door jamb to read, but the code is easy to read. Typical format: AX6. AX6 corresponds to Redline Clearcoat. Same Color Code, Different Name: Infiniti uses the exact same color across many models with different names, so the color code is important. For example, AX6 above we call Redline Clearcoat; it could also be called Red Clearcoat, High Performance Clearcoat, etc.

The Color Breakdown

Infiniti leaned heavily into the "executive lounge" aesthetic for the M37, offering 8 sophisticated shades that mostly range from "Boardroom Gray" to "Midnight Meeting." We've got a heavy dose of professional tones like Black Obsidian, Silver Metallic, and enough variations of gray to make a rainy Tuesday in London look neon, including Dark Gray Pearl and Gray Pearl Metallic. They did let the designers have a little fun at the end of the day, though, giving us the Grayish Blue Pearl-the automotive equivalent of wearing fun socks with a tuxedo.

What to Watch For

Before you get started, head to the driver's side door jamb. You're looking for a small plate that lists "COLOR" or "EXT"-your code will usually be three characters long (like KH3 for black or QAA for white). Now, while the M37 is a tank mechanically, its "Scratch Shield" clear coat is notoriously soft. It was designed to "self-heal" tiny swirls from the car wash, but in the real world, it means the paint is a bit delicate. Keep a close eye on the leading edge of the hood and the roof line; highway speeds tend to turn small pebbles into tiny sandblasters on this specific finish.

Driveway Repair Tip

Because so many of these colors are Pearls or Tricoats (I'm looking at you, White Pearl Tricoat), the "magic sparkles" like to settle at the bottom of the bottle. Shake your touch-up pen or bottle for a full 60 seconds-longer than you think you need to-to wake up those metallic flakes. When you apply the paint, think "less is more." Use a tiny dab to fill the center of the chip and let it flow to the edges on its own. It requires a little patience, but building up two thin layers will look much better than one big, gloppy mountain of paint that never quite levels out.
