The International paint color code is obtained from International, which can determine the color code upon inquiry. If no color code exists, the alternative reference is the PPG or Dupont (Axalta) paint formula number. In essence, the color code comes from International; when none is available, the fallback identifier is the PPG or Dupont (Axalta) paint formula number.
2005 was the year the workhorse truly found its stride. While everyone else was distracted by the launch of YouTube and the rise of the "office truck," the International WorkStar and DuraStar were out there actually moving the world. It was an era of chunky plastic interiors and diesel engines that still sounded like a bag of hammers. In our database, we've focused on the undisputed survivor of the fleet: Beige. It wasn't just a color choice; it was a tactical decision. This was the "Champagne of the Job Site," specifically engineered to hide five days of gravel dust and three states' worth of road salt without losing its professional dignity.
Paint Health Check
Welcome to the tail end of "The Peeling Era." By 2005, the factory was getting better at the basecoat-clearcoat dance, but the sun is a cruel mistress to these trucks. The clear coat on an International from this vintage is prone to what we call "Delamination." It starts as a tiny white bubble or a foggy patch on the hood or the roof, and before you know it, the top layer is flaking off like a bad sunburn. Once that clear coat loses its bond to the beige pigment underneath, the UV rays will turn your finish from "Professional Utility" to "Neglected Fleet" in a single summer.
Restoration Tip
When you're dealing with 2005-era paint, your motto is "Seal it or Lose it." Because this era is notorious for delamination, you cannot leave stone chips exposed. Moisture and air are the enemies; if they get tucked under the edge of the clear coat, they'll start prying it up. Use your touch-up kit to seal those chips immediately before the clear starts to lift. If you catch it early, you keep the moisture out and keep that factory beige locked down. If you wait until the clear is flapping in the wind, you're not looking at a touch-up-you're looking at a full sand-down.
