How to Find Your International Truck's Color Code

The International paint color code is obtained from International, which can determine the color code upon inquiry. If no color code exists, the alternative reference is the PPG or Dupont (Axalta) paint formula number. In essence, the color code comes from International; when none is available, the fallback identifier is the PPG or Dupont (Axalta) paint formula number.

The Color Breakdown

International didn't just build workhorses; they gave them some personality too. With 21 recorded colors, they moved well beyond standard industrial tones. You'll find everything from the heritage-heavy Harvester Red and Glennoble Green to the more modern Glacier Blue and Pewter. They even have a few high-visibility specialties like Bright Yellow that were originally designed for catalyzed spray applications. Whether you're driving a classic Scout or a heavy-duty hauler, they definitely went for it with a palette that ranges from "get-to-work" Beige to the flashy White Metallic Tricoat.

What to Watch For

Finding your paint code on an International can feel like a bit of a scavenger hunt. Look for the Line Setting Ticket-this is the factory build sheet often tucked inside the glove box, on the back of the sun visor, or occasionally on the driver's side door jamb. Because these trucks are tall and often live their lives under the sun, keep an eye out for "chalking" or fading on the roof and hood. The clear coat is tough, but years of UV exposure can make it thirsty. If you see chips starting to lift near the wheel wells or door handles, catch them early before the road salt decides to move in.

Driveway Repair Tip

Since many International colors-especially those iconic yellows-were originally designed for heavy-duty industrial use, they can be quite thick. If you are using a Touch-Up Pen or Brush, do not try to "paint" a long stroke over a scratch. Instead, use a "dabbing" motion to fill the center of the chip and let the paint flow out to the edges. If you're working with one of the metallic blues or the tricoat white, shake that bottle for a full two minutes. You want to wake up every bit of metallic flake at the bottom so the color sits right once it dries. Matching these takes a little bit of patience, but thin layers will always give you a cleaner look than one big glob.
