Here's the cold, hard truth from the spray booth: we are smack in the middle of The Peeling Era. By 2001, the industry had mastered the depth of the basecoat/clearcoat system, but the UV protection of that era had a shelf life-and that shelf life expired about ten years ago. If your Isuzu has spent its life outside, you're likely seeing "Delamination." That's painter-speak for when the clear coat decides to part ways with the color underneath, leaving white, flaky patches on the roof and hood. Once the air gets under that clear, it spreads faster than a rumor. If you see a chip that looks like it has a "halo" around it, your clear coat is already waving the white flag.

Restoration Tip
