How to Find Your 2004 Itasca's Color Code

Itasca can determine the color code. If there is no color code, the PPG or Dupont (Axalta) paint formula number serves as the reference.

2004 Itasca Background Info

The 2004 Itasca Vibe

Welcome to the peak of the "Silver Derby." In 2004, if your Itasca wasn't a shimmering metallic neutral, you weren't trying hard enough. Whether you were piloting a Meridian or a Horizon, the goal was sophisticated minimalism. We've got 10 shades in our vault for this year, and let me tell you, it's a masterclass in early-aughts luxury. You had the choice of Silver Frost, Mojave Mist Metallic, and Medium Quartz-basically every variation of "expensive-looking rock" ever conceived. Even the Green and New Wind Veil were designed to blend into a high-end RV resort like a stealth bomber in a cloud. It was a time of "Full-Body Paint" prestige, where the decal-laden rigs of the 90s were finally traded in for the sleek, automotive look.

Paint Health Check

You're living in The Peeling Era, my friend. By 2004, the industry had mastered the look of basecoat/clearcoat systems, but the bonding wasn't always bulletproof, especially on those massive fiberglass bodies. If you look at the "brow" above your windshield or the roof radius, you're likely seeing the dreaded delamination. This is where the clear coat decides to part ways with the color underneath, leaving you with ugly white flakes and exposed, dull paint. If you've got one of the darker tones like Dark Neutral or that deep Green, watch out for "checking"-those tiny spiderweb cracks that happen when the sun cooks the fiberglass under the paint. Once that clear starts lifting, the clock is ticking.

Restoration Tip

The golden rule for 2004 paint is simple: Seal the chips immediately before the clear lifts. If you see a small rock chip, don't wait for the weekend. Moisture loves to crawl under the edge of the clear coat and turn a tiny speck into a peeling sheet. When you go to fix a spot, use a plastic scraper to flick away any loose "dead skin" (the failing clear), then lightly sand the edge of the healthy clear coat with 1500-grit to feather it down. If you don't smooth that ledge, your new clear coat will just peel off the old one. Build your layers slowly, and make sure that edge is sealed tight to stop the delamination creep.
