How to Find Your 2008 Itasca's Color Code

Itasca can determine the color code. If there is no color code, the PPG or Dupont (Axalta) paint formula number serves as the reference.

2008 Itasca Background Info

The 2008 Itasca Vibe

Welcome to 2008-the year of "conservative differentiation." While the economy was doing a backflip, Itasca was busy doubling down on every conceivable shade of neutral to make sure your Ellipse or Suncruiser looked expensive without being loud. Our database tracks 26 distinct shades for this year alone, and let's be honest, half of them are different ways to say "Sand." From Desert Sand Metallic to Lt Pearlstone Metallic, the vibe was all about that shimmering, multi-layered look. If you were feeling spicy, you went for the Radiant Ruby Pearl Metallic, but most folks stayed in the safety of the Silver Frost and Beige zones. It was a sophisticated palette for a time when we still thought "Black Garnet Metallic" was the height of luxury.

Paint Health Check

By 2008, the "Robot Efficiency" era was in full swing. The factory painters were getting way too good at their jobs, which means they learned exactly how little paint they could spray while still making it look shiny on the lot. We call this the **Thin Paint Era**. The clear coats on these rigs are notorious for "delamination"-especially on the roof radius where the sidewall meets the top. If you haven't looked at your roof-line lately, don't be surprised to find the clear coat flaking off like a cheap sunburn. The metallics like Silver and Medium Graphite are particularly prone to micro-cracking (checking) if they've spent too many summers in the Arizona sun.

Restoration Tip

When you're touching up a 2008, remember: you're working with thin factory layers. If you've got a chip in that White Diamond Tricoat or Sedona Metallic, do not-I repeat, do not-just "blob" the paint in there. Because the factory finish is so thin, a heavy drop of touch-up paint will stick out like a sore thumb. Instead, build your layers slowly. Apply a thin coat, let it flash off, and repeat until the level is just below the surrounding clear coat. Since these clear coats were applied with robot-level precision, you'll want to feather your edges carefully with a high-grit paper before you apply your topcoat to avoid that "ring" look around the repair.
