How to Find Your Jaguar XF's Color Code

Jaguar paint color codes are usually on the drivers door jamb. On older Jaguar models, the color code can be ANYWHERE! Under the hood, in the trunk. Typical format: 1957/HGZ, which corresponds to Jaguar Racing Green Pearl. Some Jaguars will have the 1957 code but most will only show the HGZ code. Same color across models may have different names: Racing Clearcoat, Green Performance Clearcoat, etc. It's the same paint!

The Color Breakdown

Jaguar has a reputation for being a bit "extra," and they didn't hold back here, recording a massive 89 colors for the XF. While they definitely went for it with the head-turning French Racing Blue and the fiery Salsa, a quick look at the list suggests Jaguar was also very inspired by the British weather; between Ammonite, Storm, Tempest, and Eiger, there are effectively fifty shades of grey. Whether you're driving the classic British Racing Green or the moody Black Amethyst Pearl, your car is dressed in a very sophisticated, multi-layered suit.

What to Watch For

The XF is a looker, but its skin is notoriously sensitive. Owners often find the clear coat is a bit on the "soft" side, which is a polite way of saying it collects stone chips on the hood and door posts like a hobby. You might also spot some tiny bubbles near the door handles or under the chrome trim on the trunk-this is often just the aluminum panels being a bit dramatic about moisture. To fix these, you first need your "secret recipe" code. Open the driver's door and look at the sticker on the B-pillar (the door jamb). At the bottom of that label, you'll see a three-character code (like LML or PEC) usually sitting right next to the word "PAINT."

Driveway Repair Tip

Because many XF colors like Celestial Black or Italian Racing Red use deep pearls and metallics, matching them requires patience. Those tiny sparkles love to hide at the bottom of the bottle, so shake your touch-up pen for a full two minutes-long after your arm starts to get tired. When you're filling a chip, remember that Jaguar uses a very light-colored primer, which makes dark chips stand out like a sore thumb. Don't try to hide it with one big "blob" of paint. Apply the paint in two or three paper-thin layers, letting it dry in between. This prevents the metallic flakes from clumping and gives you that smooth, factory-depth look right in your driveway.
