Kia Niro Paint Info
The Color Breakdown
Kia really decided to have some fun with the Niro, recording a staggering 21 colors over the years. They've given us everything from the vibrant Cityscape Green and Fire Orange Metallic (they really went for it with those!) to the more sophisticated Rich Espresso Pearl. Whether you're driving a stealthy Aurora Black Pearl or one of the many "50 shades of grey" like Platinum Graphite, your Niro has a lot of personality packed into that paint.
What to Watch For
Now, let's talk shop. The Niro's factory finish looks great, but the clear coat can be a bit of a "sensitive soul," especially on the plastic bits. Keep a close eye on your door handles, side mirrors, and that rear spoiler-these are the spots where the paint likes to thin out or show its age first. Before you start dabbing, you need to find your "birth certificate." Open the driver's side door and look at the jamb for a small silver or white sticker; your paint code is a 2 or 3-digit combo (like SWP or ABP) usually located right above the "Exterior Paint" heading.
Driveway Repair Tip
Since so many Niro colors are "Pearls" or "Tricoats" (looking at you, Snow White), they have a lot of microscopic sparkles that like to settle at the bottom of the bottle while it sits on the shelf. Give your touch-up pen or bottle a vigorous shake for a full 60 seconds-longer than you think you need-to wake up those flakes. When you apply it, don't try to fill a chip in one big go. Use the tip of the brush to place a tiny dot of paint in the center of the chip and let it flow outward. It's much easier to add a second thin layer than it is to deal with a giant, gloppy tear-drop on your door!
