How to Find Your Kia Optima's Color Code

Kia codes are easy to find as they are always on the drivers door jamb. Typical format: B3. Example mapping: B3 Mica Blue Metallic Clearcoat. Same Color Code, Different Name: Kia, like all manufacturers, uses the exact same color across many models and then will have a different color name for each model. This is why the color code is so important to order the correct paint. For example, B3, above we call Mica Blue Metallic Clearcoat. It could also be called Blue Clearcoat, Light Mist Clearcoat, etc.

The Color Breakdown

Kia didn't just make a sedan; they made a rolling canvas. With 55 recorded colors, the Optima lineup is a wild mix of the sensible and the "let's see if this works." For every classic Ebony Black or Clear White, there is an adventurous Olive Green Pearl or a bold Sangria. They even gave us the distinct Gold Beige Metallic-because sometimes you want your car to match your favorite watch. Whether you're driving a deep Abyss Blue Pearl or a sharp Titanium Silver, Kia certainly went for it in the paint department.

What to Watch For

If you own an Optima in one of the pearlescent whites, like Snow White Tricoat, you might have noticed the paint has a bit of an "independent streak"-meaning it occasionally likes to flake off near the windshield or on the roof. It's a common quirk, but it's nothing a little driveway TLC can't manage. Before you start, find your "secret recipe" (the paint code) on the black sticker located on the driver's side door jamb. It's usually a two- or three-digit code like "SWP" or "ABP." Keep an eye on those high-impact areas like the hood and the edges of the trunk, where the clear coat tends to work the hardest.

Driveway Repair Tip

Since so many Optima colors are pearls or tricoats (I'm looking at you, White Pearl II), your touch-up bottle is actually holding a tiny galaxy of metallic flakes. These heavy sparkles like to sink to the bottom, so shake that bottle for at least 60 seconds-and I mean really shake it-to wake up the mica. When applying, think "less is more." Use the tip of your applicator to dab a tiny amount into the chip rather than painting a long stroke. If you're working with a pearl, it requires patience; doing two or three paper-thin layers will look much better than one big, gloopy "mountain" of paint that never quite levels out.
