How to Find Your Kia Soul's Color Code

Kia codes are easy to find as they are always on the drivers door jamb. Typical format: B3. Example mapping: B3 Mica Blue Metallic Clearcoat. Same Color Code, Different Name: Kia, like all manufacturers, uses the exact same color across many models and then will have a different color name for each model. This is why the color code is so important to order the correct paint. For example, B3, above we call Mica Blue Metallic Clearcoat. It could also be called Blue Clearcoat, Light Mist Clearcoat, etc.

The Color Breakdown

Kia treated the Soul like a rolling mood board, recording a massive 73 colors over the years. They really went for it with the naming, too-moving far beyond standard greys into the realm of Vanilla Shake, Alien II, and the delightfully named Space Cadet Green. Whether you're driving a Tomato Red toaster or a Midnight Blue masterpiece, the Soul has always been about personality. With so many pearl and metallic finishes in the mix, your car likely has more "shimmer" than a disco ball, which makes your DIY touch-up job a little more exciting.

What to Watch For

Because the Soul is shaped like a stylish motorized brick, its vertical front end is basically a magnet for road gravel. You'll likely find most of your "battle scars" on the leading edge of the hood. Owners also report that Kia's clear coat can be a bit sensitive, especially on the horizontal surfaces like the roof or the plastic door handles where the paint likes to flake or bubble over time. Before you start, find your specific color DNA: open the driver's side door and look at the B-pillar jamb for a sticker. Your paint code will be a 2 or 3-digit alphanumeric code (like "UD" or "A1") usually located right under the "Paint" heading.

Driveway Repair Tip

Since so many Soul colors-like Black Cherry Pearl or Snow White Tricoat-rely on heavy metallic flakes and pearls, the secret is in the shake. You need to shake that touch-up bottle for at least 60 seconds (set a timer!) to wake up the sparkles that have settled at the bottom. When applying, think "less is more." Instead of one big blob, use the tip of your brush to dab tiny, thin layers into the chip. If you have a pearl finish, it requires a little extra patience to build the color up, but those thin layers will help the new paint sit flush and catch the light just like the original factory finish.
