How to Find Your 1995 Lincoln's Color Code

Lincoln color codes are always on the drivers door jamb. On the color plate, EX PT (for Exterior Paint) appears, with the paint code located above or below; sometimes the actual color is embossed on the plate and not where expected. Typical format: WT/M6640, though M6640 is rarely shown and typically only WT appears. WT corresponds to Performance White Clearcoat. Pre 1970 Lincolns can be problematic due to same names with different codes.

1995 Lincoln Background Info

The 1995 Lincoln Vibe

1995 was the year of the ultimate land yacht. Whether you were floating down the interstate in a Town Car or feeling like a pilot in a Mark VIII, these cars were the peak of heavy-metal luxury. Back then, Lincoln wasn't trying to be "sporty"-they were trying to be a living room on wheels. We've focused our selection on the survivors of this era, like the crisp Oxford White and the sharp Silver Frost Metallic. These weren't just colors; they were statements of status that looked just as good parked at the country club as they did in a driveway in the suburbs.

Paint Health Check

Welcome to the heart of The Peeling Era. By '95, the factory had fully committed to the basecoat/clearcoat system, but the chemistry hadn't quite mastered the art of staying together. You're likely dealing with "Delamination"-that's a fancy way of saying your clear coat has decided to go on strike and separate from the base color. It usually starts as a tiny white flake or a cloudy spot on the roof or trunk lid, and before you know it, your Lincoln is shedding its skin like a desert snake. If you see the edges of your clear coat lifting, the bond is failing, and the underlying color is sitting there defenseless.

Restoration Tip

The golden rule for a '95 Lincoln: Seal chips immediately before the clear lifts. On these mid-90s finishes, a stone chip isn't just an eyesore-it's an entry point. Once air and moisture get under that clear coat, it starts to "unzip" across the whole panel. If you catch a nick in your Performance White door, don't wait for the weekend to fix it. Clean the area and get a fresh layer of paint and clear on there to "glue" those edges down. If the clear is already flaking, you'll need to sand back the loose bits until you find where the paint is still actually sticking before you start your touch-up.
