How to Find Your 1994 Lund's Color Code

The Lund paint color code is obtained from Lund; they can determine the color code. For identification, the primary source is the color code provided by Lund. If there is no color code, the reference becomes the PPG or Dupont (Axalta) paint formula number. In short, Lund supplies the code, or, when none exists, the PPG or Dupont (Axalta) paint formula number is the alternative.

1994 Lund Background Info

The 1994 Lund Vibe

Welcome to 1994-the year of flannel shirts, Pulp Fiction, and the absolute peak of "Jewel Tone" fever. If you were rocking a Lund back then, chances are you weren't just fishing; you were making a statement in Forest Green or Cobalt Blue Metallic. This was the era where Lund's "All Models" lineup-from the rugged Pro-V to the classic Tyee-started moving away from the flat, utilitarian looks of the '80s and into deep, shimmering metallics like Graphite Gray and Red Reef. We've kept the best ten survivors of that palette in our database, including the elusive Sand Beach, because we know these 90s hulls are still the backbone of the lake.

Paint Health Check

Being a 1994, your boat sits right in the heart of The Peeling Era. Back then, the industry was perfecting the basecoat/clearcoat system, but the UV protection hadn't quite caught up to the intensity of a long summer on the water. The big threat here is Delamination. You'll see it first on the gunnels or the top of the transom-the clear coat starts looking like a bad sunburn, flaking off in sheets and leaving the base color underneath dull and exposed. On these aluminum Lunds, you've also got to watch the rivets. If you see "white pepper" powder or bubbling around the hardware, that's aluminum oxidation creeping under the paint film, just waiting to lift your hard work right off the metal.

Restoration Tip

In this era of paint, edges are your enemy. Because the clear coat is prone to lifting once its bond is broken, you cannot leave a rock chip or a dock scrape open to the elements. Moisture will tunnel under the clear and start the "peeling zipper" effect. Therefore, seal your chips immediately. If you're repairing a spot, don't just "blob" the paint on; you need to feather back the failing clear coat until you hit a solid bond, then build your layers. And remember: if you find that white powder (aluminum oxide) under a bubble, you've got to sand it down to shiny metal and prime it fast, or the new paint will just float on top of the rot and pop off by next season.
