How to Find Your 1999 Lund's Color Code

The Lund paint color code is obtained from Lund; they can determine the color code. For identification, the primary source is the color code provided by Lund. If there is no color code, the reference becomes the PPG or Dupont (Axalta) paint formula number. In short, Lund supplies the code, or, when none exists, the PPG or Dupont (Axalta) paint formula number is the alternative.

1999 Lund Background Info

The 1999 Lund Vibe

Welcome to 1999. The Y2K bug was the only thing scarier than a missed walleye, and Lund was busy turning out some of the hardest-working aluminum hulls on the water. Whether you were rocking a Pro-V or a Tyee, Lund didn't just give you a boat; they gave you a "High-Performance Paint System" that felt more like a luxury sedan than a fishing rig. With 11 different colors in our database, it's clear they weren't shy about the palette. You had your pick of the decade's heavy hitters: Forest Green for the guys who wanted to blend into the reeds, Quick Silver for the speed demons, and Cobalt Blue Metallic for anyone who wanted to look like they owned the lake. It was a time of metallic flake and big dreams, right before the world realized the clear coat was the Achilles' heel.

Paint Health Check

Since your Lund was born in the heart of "The Peeling Era" (1985-2005), we need to have a serious talk about delamination. Lund's automotive-grade finishes looked incredible in the showroom, but twenty-plus years of UV rays and dock rash have likely taken their toll. The conflict here is clear coat failure. If you see your Graphite Gray or Red Reef starting to look like a bad case of sun poisoning-where the shiny top layer is bubbling or flaking off in sheets-you've hit the Delamination Stage. Once that clear coat lifts, the base color underneath is defenseless. It'll turn chalky and dead faster than you can bait a hook.

Restoration Tip

The golden rule for 1999 paint: Seal chips immediately before the clear lifts. If you notice a nick from a wayward sinker or a dock encounter, don't "wait for the off-season" to fix it. Air and moisture are the enemies of your clear coat's bond. Clean the area with a good solvent-based wax remover to get the lake grime out, then apply your touch-up color. Once that's dry, hit it with a fresh clear coat to "lock the edges" of the surrounding factory finish. It's the only way to stop that peeling from spreading across your hull like a wildfire. Keep it sealed, and that Pewter or Sand Beach will keep turning heads at the ramp for another twenty years.
