Macdon Swather Paint Info
The Color Breakdown
Macdon decided that when you've perfected a look, you stick with it. They've given us exactly one recorded color-the legendary Brown Red (PPG 920423). It's the color of a long day's work and a job well done. While some manufacturers offer a rainbow, Macdon kept it simple so you can spend less time looking at swatches and more time in the field.
What to Watch For
Because these machines live their lives under the sun and in the dirt, keep an eye on the top of the engine cowl and those sharp metal edges on the frame. The sun loves to dull that deep red over time, and rust likes to sneak in on those 90-degree metal corners where the paint is naturally a bit thinner. To find your paint code, head over to the operator's platform; you'll usually find the serial plate-which lists the model and color info-stamped near the cab door or on the main frame support.
Driveway Repair Tip
Since this is a water-based PPG formula, it's a bit of a "Goldilocks" paint: it doesn't like it too cold or too hot. If you're doing a touch-up in the driveway (or the barn), wait for a mild day above 50?F. Before you start dabbing, give that 2oz bottle or pen a serious workout-shake it for at least two full minutes to wake up the pigments. Apply it in thin, light layers rather than one big blob; this helps the water-based formula dry evenly and stay put against the vibration of the field.
