How to Find Your 1999 Newmar's Color Code

The Newmar color code may be on the vehicle but is sometimes well hidden, and some vehicles have no color codes at all. Locating it often requires direct contact with Newmar. Newmar may advise on the code location and can provide PPG or Dupont paint formula numbers or alternate formulas when no code exists. Hidden or missing codes are resolved by contacting Newmar. Paint information and vehicle details submitted via the contact form help identify or make the color.

1999 Newmar Background Info

The 1999 Newmar Vibe

Welcome to 1999-the year we were all terrified that our computers would explode at midnight, but our motorhomes were looking smoother than ever. If you're driving a 1999 Newmar, you're likely rocking one of the 12 shades from their "Earth Tone" era. It was a time when every high-end coach wanted to look like it was naturally born in a desert canyon or a pine forest. We're talking about the heavy hitters like Kalahari Beige Metallic, Rainforest Pearl, and the ever-present Antelope Metallic. It was a sophisticated palette for the Dutch Star and Mountain Aire crowd, proving that you didn't need neon stripes to show off luxury-you just needed three different shades of metallic tan.

Paint Health Check

Because your Newmar was built during The Peeling Era (1985-2005), we need to talk about the "Clear Coat Cancer." By 1999, manufacturers had perfected the basecoat/clearcoat system for depth and shine, but the UV blockers of the day weren't quite ready for a decade of baking in the Arizona sun. The conflict here is Delamination. You'll notice it first on the roof radius (where the sidewall meets the roof) and the front or rear caps. It starts as a tiny white flake, and before you know it, the clear coat is peeling off in sheets like a bad sunburn, leaving the base color underneath dull, exposed, and vulnerable to the elements.

Restoration Tip

If you catch a chip or a small patch of lifting clear, do not wait. In this era of paint, once air and moisture get between the base and the clear, the bond is compromised for the whole panel. Seal those edges immediately. Use a high-quality solvent-based touch-up to bridge the gap between the surviving clear coat and the exposed base. When you're repairing those metallic earth tones like Topaz Metallic or Black Gold, don't just "blob" the paint into the center of the chip; feather it slightly over the edge of the healthy clear coat to "glue" it down. This stops the delamination creep and keeps your rig looking like a 20th-century icon rather than a DIY project gone wrong.
