How to Find Your Nissan Pulsar's Color Code

Nissan paint color codes are on the driver's door jamb. Some labels are low on the jamb and require bending to read. The color label may be small. Codes are typically three characters long using letters and numbers; sometimes a space and a fourth character follow. The same code can have different marketing names across models. AX6 corresponds to Redline Clearcoat; AX6 may also be called Red Clearcoat or High Performance Clearcoat. Nissan North America phone number is 1-800-647-7261.

The Color Breakdown

Nissan really went for it with the Pulsar, recording a massive 42 colors over its lifespan. While you'll see plenty of the classics like Alpine White and Silver Metallic, they weren't afraid to get experimental. From the bold Nugget Gold Metallic and Yellow Green Pearl to the retro-cool Two-Tone schemes, the Pulsar lineup was a playground for the "Rad Era" and beyond.

What to Watch For

Before you start, you'll need your code. On older Pulsars, pop the hood and look at the passenger side of the firewall (the metal wall behind the engine). On later models, check the driver's side door jamb. Nissan paint from this era-especially the reds like Aztec Red or Rallye Red-is known to "sunbathe" a little too hard, leading to fading or clear coat peeling on the roof and hood. You might also notice the paint feels a bit thin or "soft," so if you're cleaning the area, go easy with the scrub brush.

Driveway Repair Tip

Since so many Pulsar colors are metallics or pearls (like Yellow Pearl Tri-coat), your biggest secret weapon is a good 60-second shake. Those tiny sparkles settle at the bottom of the bottle; if you don't wake them up, your touch-up will look flat. When applying, avoid the "one big blob" method. Instead, use a toothpick or the very tip of your brush to place a tiny drop in the center of the chip and let it flow to the edges. It requires patience, but two thin layers will always look better and stay put longer than one thick one.
