Saturn Relay Paint Info
The Color Breakdown
Saturn didn't hold back with the Relay, offering a whopping 34 colors over its run. They really went for it with the naming, too-moving from the bold Arrival Blue Metallic to the somewhat mystical Cosmic Quartz Metallic and the high-energy Victory Red. Whether your van is a "50 shades of grey" contender like Stealth Grey Metallic or sporting the fancy Imperial Blue Effect, there is a lot of personality packed into these pigments.
What to Watch For
Before you start dabbing, you need to find your "WA" code. On the Relay, Saturn stayed true to its GM roots: pop open the glove box and look for the "Service Parts Identification" sticker. If it isn't there, check the driver's side door jamb or the spare tire cover in the back.
In terms of aging, these vans are known to show some "sunburn" (clear coat peeling) on the roof and hood if they've lived outside. You might also notice the paint on the door handles is prone to chipping or bubbling. If you catch these spots while they're small, a touch-up pen is your best friend to stop the spread before the elements move in.
Driveway Repair Tip
Since so many Relay colors are "Metallic" or have an "Effect" (that's industry-speak for "extra sparkles"), you have to wake up the magic in the bottle. Shake your touch-up pen or bottle for at least 60 full seconds-longer than you think you need to. Those tiny metallic flakes like to settle at the bottom, and if you don't mix them well, your patch will look darker than the rest of the van. When applying, remember that three thin layers are always better than one big, thick blob. Think of it like a professional manicure: stay inside the lines and be patient!
