Saturn SC Paint Info
The Color Breakdown
Saturn really went for it with the SC, giving us 15 distinct colors that ranged from the sensible Bright Silver Metallic to the bold "hey, look at me" vibes of Plum Metallic and Lilac Metallic. Whether you're driving a Dark Antelope Metallic coupe or a classic Bright Red, these cars were designed to stand out in a parking lot full of boring beige-even if your Saturn technically is Beige Metallic.
What to Watch For
Because of the SC's unique "dent-resistant" plastic body panels, the paint behaves a little differently than it does on a standard steel car. You might notice the clear coat starting to lift or peel in sheets-almost like a sunburn-especially on the roof or the tops of the doors. Before you get started, you'll need your code. Check the glove box first; if it's not there, head to the trunk and lift the spare tire cover. Look for a sticker with "BC/CC" followed by a code starting with a "U" or "WA."
Driveway Repair Tip
Since so many Saturn colors like Saturn Blue Metallic and Black Gold Metallic are packed with shimmer, you need to be a human paint mixer. Shake your touch-up bottle for a full two minutes-long after you think you're done-to get those metallic flakes off the bottom and into the paint. When applying, think "thin and patient." Use the tip of the brush to dab the color into the center of the chip and let it flow out to the edges. If you try to paint it on like a wall, it'll look like a grape-flavored blob; two thin coats will always look better than one thick one.
