Saturn Vue Paint Info
The Color Breakdown
Saturn really went for it with the VUE, recording a massive 74 different colors over its lifetime. They didn't just stick to the basics, either; they gave us everything from the moody Dark Dragonfly Teal and Fine Sublime Metallic to the high-energy Fusion Orange. Whether your VUE is wearing one of the many "50 shades of grey" like Techno Gray Metallic or a punchy Bright Red, there is a lot of personality packed into those polymer panels.
What to Watch For
Because many VUE body panels are made of polymer (fancy talk for plastic), the paint behaves a little differently than it does on a steel truck. You might notice the paint on the doors feels a bit flexible or "stretchy" if it starts to fail, while the metal hood and roof are prone to the classic GM clear-coat fade if they've spent too much time in the sun. Before you start your repair, pop open the driver's side door and look at the jamb or the door edge for a silver or white sticker. You're looking for a code that usually starts with "WA" followed by a string of numbers and letters-that's your golden ticket to a perfect match.
Driveway Repair Tip
Since so many Saturn colors are "Metallic" or have an "Effect" (like Sport Red Effect), those tiny flakes of shimmer like to settle at the bottom of the bottle. Shake your touch-up pen or bottle for a full two minutes-long after you think you're done-to wake up those sparkles. When applying, think "thin and patient." Use the tip of the brush to dab the paint into the center of the chip and let it flow to the edges on its own. It's much easier to add a second light layer than it is to deal with a big, gloppy mountain of paint!
