Scion xA Paint Info
The Color Breakdown
Scion really swung for the fences with the xA, giving us 12 distinct ways to dress up this quirky little hatchback. While plenty of owners stuck with the classics like Silver Streak Metallic or Polar White, Scion wasn't afraid to get weird. They gave us the fiery Hot Lava, the moody Black Cherry Pearl, and even the earthy Olive Mist Metallic. Whether yours is a subtle commuter or a bright Absolutely Red rolling statement, you've got a color that was designed to stand out in a parking lot.
What to Watch For
Now, the honest truth: Scion (and its Toyota parent) used a fairly "soft" paint system on these cars. If you look at your hood and see a galaxy of tiny white dots, don't panic-those are just standard-issue rock chips. The clear coat on the xA also tends to be a bit thin, especially on the roof and the tops of the doors where the sun beats down. Before you start, open your driver's door and look at the door jamb for a white sticker. You're looking for the letters "C/TR" followed by a three-digit code (like 1E7 or 3P0). That is your secret handshake to getting the right match.
Driveway Repair Tip
When you're using a touch-up pen or brush on those metallic or pearl colors-like Black Sand Pearl or Indigo Ink-the "sparkles" like to settle at the bottom of the bottle. Shake that container for a full 60 seconds (longer than you think you need!) to wake up the metallic flakes. When applying, think "less is more." Use the tip of the applicator to dab a tiny amount into the center of the chip and let it flow out to the edges. If the color looks a little different at first, don't worry-metallics require patience as they dry and the flakes settle into place. Two thin coats will always look better than one big, gloopy raindrop of paint!
