How to Find Your Suzuki All Models's Color Code

On Suzuki vehicles, paint color codes may be well hidden, and some vehicles have no code at all. Suzuki can be contacted to determine where the code is, locate hidden codes, or verify paint formulas. When a code is missing, the PPG paint formula number or the Dupont paint formula number can replace the color code.

The Color Breakdown

Suzuki certainly didn't hold back when it came to their palette, recording a solid 44 colors that range from "sensible commuter" to "off-road adventurer." They gave us everything from the deep, mysterious Saturn Black Metallic and the crisp Superior White to the more poetic shades like Invierno Blue Metallic. Whether you're driving a rugged Samurai in Sand Beige Metallic or a sporty Swift in Triton Blue Metallic, Suzuki's colors usually have a bit of personality tucked into the name. They even have specific colors for the small stuff, like Wheel Black (matt), proving they care about the details as much as you do.

What to Watch For

Now, for the honest truth: Suzuki paint is a bit of a lightweight traveler. It's designed for efficiency, which often means the factory coats are on the thinner side. This makes the leading edge of your hood a magnet for stone chips, and on older models, you might see the clear coat start to get a little "sunburnt" (fading or peeling) on the roof or tops of the doors.

Before you start, you need your 3-digit DNA code. Suzuki likes to play hide-and-seek with these, but you'll usually find the paint code plate on the firewall (the metal wall at the back of the engine bay), the driver's side door jamb, or occasionally tucked inside the glove box. Look for a small metal plate or a sticker with three characters-that's your North Star.

Driveway Repair Tip

Since so many Suzuki shades are metallic or pearl-like the gorgeous Radiant Red Pearl or Fantasy Black-you have to respect the "sparkle settle." Those tiny metallic flakes are heavy and love to nap at the bottom of your touch-up bottle. Shake that bottle for a full 60 seconds (set a timer, I'm serious) to wake them up.

When you're filling a chip, use the "Dab, Don't Drag" method. Instead of trying to paint a stroke like you're Bob Ross, just dab a tiny droplet of paint into the center of the chip and let it flow out to the edges. If the color looks a bit different at first, don't panic; metallic paints require patience and usually look much better once they've fully dried and had a chance to catch the light.
