Suzuki Esteem Paint Info
The Color Breakdown
Suzuki might have been building a sensible compact, but when it came to the paint booth, they really went for it. With 22 different colors recorded, the Esteem lived up to its name. We saw everything from the deep Saturn Black Metallic to the adventurous Grove Green Pearl Metallic and the surprisingly vibrant Scuba Blue Metallic. Whether yours is a classic Silky Silver or a flashy Radiant Red Pearl, Suzuki didn't shy away from adding some personality to the driveway.
What to Watch For
If you're looking for your paint code, pop the hood first-Suzuki usually tucked that silver ID plate right onto the firewall (the metal wall behind the engine). If it's not there, check the driver's side door jamb.
Now, the reality: these cars were born in an era where clear coats were still figuring out how to handle the sun. You'll likely see some "snowing" or peeling on the roof and hood where the top layer has decided to retire early. Also, those beautiful reds and pearls can get a bit shy (faded) after decades outdoors. Don't worry, though; catching a chip before it turns into a rust spot is exactly why you're holding that touch-up bottle.
Driveway Repair Tip
Since so many Esteem colors use metallic or pearl flakes-like Cassis Red Pearl or Superior White-those tiny sparkles like to settle at the bottom of the bottle. Shake your touch-up pen or bottle for a full 60 seconds (time it!) to wake them up. When you apply the paint, think "thin and patient." One thick blob will stand out, but three light, thin dabs will fill the chip perfectly. If you're using a spray can, set the can in a bowl of warm tap water for 10 minutes before you start; it thins the paint just enough to give you a much smoother, pro-level mist.
