You're trying to match the depth of a finish that was applied with robotic precision. If you're working with a tri-coat like Halo Tricoat or Hypersonic Red, be extra patient; those pearl effects rely on the light passing through multiple thin layers. Don't rush the process, or you'll end up with a dark spot that ruins the "shimmer" Toyota worked so hard to program into those robots.
