How to Find Your Toyota Land Cruiser's Color Code

On all Toyota models, the color ID plate is on the drivers door jamb. It shows the letters C/TR and then the paint code. Example: C/TR 3P1 FA09. The color code is 3P1; FA09 is not part of the color code and is an interior option code. For example, 3P1 is Impulse Red Metallic Clearcoat; names may vary like Red Metallic Clearcoat or Wine Metallic Clearcoat. The color code can also be obtained from a dealer using the VIN.

The Color Breakdown

With 57 recorded colors, Toyota has clearly given the Land Cruiser a wardrobe for every occasion-from the "just here to work" Super White 2 to the "I have a mountain to climb" Trail Dust. They really went for it with the textures, too, offering everything from the subtle Silver Metallic to the moody Attitude Black Pearl. If you look at the list, you'll see about a dozen variations of beige and gray, because apparently, there are at least fifty shades of "expedition-ready."

What to Watch For

While these trucks are built like tanks, the paint can sometimes be a little more... sensitive. If you're rocking Blizzard Pearl or Super White, keep a close eye on the edges of your hood and fenders; these shades have a bit of a reputation for wanting to flake off in the sun. Also, older Cruisers that have spent a decade in the desert might see the clear coat get a bit tired and dull on the roof. To find your specific battle-code, open the driver's door and look at the jamb or the center pillar for a sticker with "C/TR" followed by three digits (like 040 or 1G3).

Driveway Repair Tip

Since so many Land Cruiser colors are "Pearls" or "Micas" (like Blue Onyx Pearl or Barcelona Red Mica), those little flakes of sparkle like to settle at the bottom of the bottle. Shake your touch-up pen or bottle for a full 60 seconds-longer than you think you need to-to wake up that metallic glitter. When you apply it to a chip, don't try to fill the whole crater in one go. Dabbing on two or three "whisper-thin" layers will give you a much smoother finish than one big, gloppy mountain of paint.
